Saturday

Noon-ish:
Went to Allure on Location event in Bel Air for Clothes Off Our Back. The place was packed, but amid the beauty, health, and clothing venues…was Charles David. They had set up a booth to show their new Fall/Winter 06 Collection. They had tones of heels in great rich colors, boots, and day shoes. Sadly, they had nothing for men. If you have a Charles David near by, I say go by and buy! read more...

I’ve been working day in and day out. As a fashion stylist in LA this happens. I’ve been working non stop. After pulling more shoes this past week I think I’ve it my limit. I pulled them all Jimmy, Hype, Kenneth, Kors, it just goes on and on and on.

Now fashion week in less then 2 weeks here in LA. I’m going to almost every show and party. But before I can have my fun, I need to find a great pair of shoes for me. Yes, ladies…I to need some sole love. I will be going to where any footwear lover goes…Rodeo Dr. I told myself that since I’ve been a good this past month I could buy 3 shoes. So I’m going to Gucci, Sergio Rossi, and NM. read more...

As a stylist here in LA, I get my fair share of invites to events. From fashion shows, parties, private trunk shows, meet & greets, it’s always fun getting the mail! One that recently caught my eye was for a store opening: Footcandy! Located in posh Brentwood, it’s just seconds away from Brentwood Gardens, one of the best shopping centers in LA! I had to check them out...

This past week, in the mist of the craziness of my life, one of my really good friends asked me if I could help her out. I called her back, 6 hours later, and asked her, "So what’s going on?" She went on to tell me how she was going out with some new guy and blah blah blah blah. The kicker in this was that she had no idea what to wear on their first date. Now, she knows that there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. She told me that she had a few days, but no time to shop for anything because of her work load.

I’m thinking, sure why not! After all, I only have two shoots coming up, a mountain of paper work, 3 parties I have to go to, an interview that’s been pushed back more times then even I can count, and I’ve yet to sit down and see this week’s installment of Project Runway! Now, before I could think of a way to kind of get out of it she says, "Don’t forget shoes! I know I always say: no shoes. So go crazy! Get me what I know you know I want, but don’t know it yet!" read more...

About marlon austin

Marlon Austin is a designer of fine couture apparel who is venturing into the ladies shoes category with some stunning results. Although there are only a few shoe styles in the Marlon Austin Bespoke Couture line, the ones that are available are beautiful. With models like the snakeskin “Pitone” shoe and the earthy wood “Porto” shoe, Marlon Austin is making shoes that are described by Edgar Revilla as “works of true art and the best of the best.”The following is from the Marlon Austin site and describes a bit of their philosophy:“The terminology Bespoke has recently been thrown around everywhere. It's becoming as common as the word apple pie. We are aware that there are many order takers and cookie cutters in the market. Most will claim they sell Bespoke clothing. How that is so far from the truth.”“Our answer to such nonsense is simply: Anyone can take an order for a suit or shirt, anyone can claim that they make the best bespoke suits and shirts in the market place today. But only few can actually prove it in the details. We are among the few that will prove it. Even before you put our suits, shirts or footwear on, it will make a statement. With such details as hand made button holes, horn buttons, hand cut arm holes and full canvas garments made the old world way. The vision of the masterpiece that you will behold will tell stories of centuries passed. Our clothing is 100% hand made and only to your specifications and our strict guidelines.”

Shoe hat, anyone?

Okay so... I was wondering what to blog about this week when I ran across the picture at the left. I mean, I think I stared at it for a good ten minutes before I finally moved on to what I was actually doing.

I saw it on Yahoo. Apparently, this is a creation by Japanese designer Kazuo Takashima for the 2007 Spring & Summer Tokyo Collection. I'm not sure if I would be tooting around town in something like this, but it is rather unusual. Isn't it?

It got me to thinking... why would you want to wear a shoe on your head anyway? I mean, I guess if it was a Manolo or something...then, maybe. But not this. It's kinda tacky, don't you think? Of course, it doesn't help that her eyeliner is running all over the place. You'd think she could get it together instead of looking like a football player about to head to the line of scrimage. My name is Edgar Revilla, I’m a Fashion Stylist and I have a love for great luxury shoes. The French have given us Dior, Chanel, and Christian Lacroix. The Italians have flashed us with Prada, Gucci, and Versace. While the English released on to us, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and of course, Manolo Blahnik. Here in the “Good old U S of A” we have Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Stuart Weitzman.

Every season designers come out with their best foot-wear forward. Sometimes they make me long for a small shoe size. While at the other end of my emotional spectrum, I can only look in horror while they crash and burn. Always saying on top of the fashion world is just part of my day to day routine. Seeing what walks down the runway or what shines at the suits during awards season is also fun... read more...

Whisper "Stuart Weitzman" to any discerning shoe-lover, and you'll inspire a reverie. Sumptuous pumps . . . glittering mules . . . studded stilettos — Stuart Weitzman shoe creations are the stuff of dreams for women around the world.Frequently seen on runways and red carpets, Stuart Weitzman shoes literally make headlines. Often, they deserve a spotlight of their own. Die-hard devotees have even penned poems and composed songs to celebrate their passion for Weitzman styles.

The man behind the mystique is Stuart Weitzman — founder of Stuart Weitzman Inc. Combining an eye for beauty with the technical expertise of a master craftsman, he creates more than 300 new styles of shoes and handbags a year. Each is a monument to fashion and innovation. Although his father was a shoe designer — Seymour Weitzman was known to shoppers as "Mr. Seymour" — Stuart was originally headed for Wall Street: "I had not considered following in my father's footsteps although I always sketched as a hobby." But his designer's instincts soon took over and at age 20 he surprised his father with a sample shoe the factory made from one of his sketches. His father proudly added it to the Mr. Seymour line, where it sold very well — so well that his father had "Stuart's first shoe" bronzed. Goodbye Wall Street, hello Seventh Avenue!Stuart Weitzman's trademark use of unique materials (name another shoemaker who has worked with cork, vinyl, Lucite, wallpaper, and 24-karat gold!) and his legendary attention to detail have garnered him and his company a global following. His shoes are now sold in 45 countries — everywhere from France to the West Indies to Japan. Shoppers in the U.S. forage for his footwear in major department stores and fine retail shops, as well as in his free-standing boutiques, located in several major cities across the country. With plans to open additional signature stores in the U.S., Weitzman is also expanding his retail footprint abroad. The flagship European Stuart Weitzman boutique is now open for business in Zurich.

And to the delight of his clientele, Weitzman debuted this online boutique in 1998. Featuring selected styles from his extensive collections of shoes and handbags, the Web site makes the Weitzman experience accessible to any woman with a mouse, a modem and a serious obsession with shoes.Despite his ever-growing retail base, and his own burgeoning celebrity, Stuart Weitzman remains remarkably hands-on and is intimately involved in all aspects of production. Weitzman is one of the few designers who is also a pattern-maker, and he personally sees his products through the entire manufacturing process. It's not unusual for Weitzman to spend half of his 100-plus-hour work week overseeing operations in his factories in Elda, Spain — where his shoes have been made for over 30 years, ever since a group of shoes made there caught Stuart's eye with their exceptional quality and workmanship.

This extraordinary attention to detail is the kernel of the Weitzman allure. Women get as excited about a casual slide as they do about the most dramatic pave pump. Each creation transcends mere glamour and becomes a statement in quality and artistry.
