About Adidas
Adidas founder Adi Dassler was passionate about sports. For Adi, who started making sports shoes in the 1920s, the athlete came first. He gave those on the field, the court, and the track the unexpected little differences that made them more comfortable and improved performance. The adidas mission has not changed: it is "To be the best sports brand in the world".
adidas America is a subsidiary of Germany-based adidas-Salomon, the world's second largest manufacturer of athletic equipment, footwear and apparel. Roughly 1,000 people are employed in their Oregon headquarters and various sales offices around the country. People work in the field, specializing in retail merchandising, sports promotion and as tech reps.
adidas also has an international office in Oregon to design, develop, and market the categories most influenced by the U.S. market including Basketball, Training, Baseball, Football, Urban, Originals, Workout and Walking. The categories most influenced by the European market are designed, developed and marketed globally from the international headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Soccer, Running, Tennis and numerous Olympic sports are headquartered at adidas-Salomon.
The adidas mission is to become the best sports brand in the world. To that end, they vow to never equate quantity with quality. This is the adidas legacy. This is what the brand stands for. This will never change.
