It's that time of year again. The fashion press is still huddling in the cold tents of Manhattan for the end of Fashion Week, but Shoe IQ is bringing full coverage of shoes for Fall 2007-- the good, the bad and the ugly. And with a fall full of drab, tailored looks on the forecast, shoes will be an even more important fashion statement this coming season.

Anna Sui, Fall 2007

Anna Sui

This season, Sui foregoes her usual rock inspiration for furniture. Yes, that's right--your nightstand is the inspiration for some of Sui's looks this fall. With interior design elements incorporated into trim and silhouettes, the shoes shown with this collection were surprisingly some of the most inspired shown on the runway this past week.

Carlos Miele, Fall 2007

Carlos Miele

Miele's offerings this fall make up the "ugly" offerings for the coming season. I am reminded of Marc Jacobs Petal Heel/ Sock combination from a couple of seasons ago when I see what I can only classify as "granny" sandals paired with dark stockings.

Isaac Mizrahi, Fall 2007

Isaac Mizrahi

Oh Isaac! We love you for being so concerned about our health and well-being but really our ankles are quite warm enough without sending these babies down the runway. My husband, in all his sci-fi wisdom, would probably compare these puppies to Tribbles and as far as I'm concerned they are definitely TROUBLE with a capital T.

Luella, Fall 2007

I have to say that this was one of my favorite collections as a fashion historian. I harbor a deep and abiding passion for women's riding costume and its origins in menswear and when I saw this ensemble paired with a pair of cavalier boots, I was in love. Will this be the fashion of the season? Probably not but it certainly gave me something to write about!

Carolina Herrera, Fall 2007

Carolina Herrera

Tightlacing and body manipulation are consistent themes of Victorian era fashion commentary. Looking at these corset laced heels sent down the catwalk by Herrera, I was once again reminded of Harold Koda's brilliant exhibition, "Extreme Beauty." Check out the catalogue if you can get your hands on it.

I appreciate your constructive criticism, we all need it but I find these collections extraordinary. I specially fell for Carolina Herrera. Despite many people think, shoes are a very important part of our outfit, shoes should represent out personality more than any other element we wear.
