Sabots

So. I've been at a loss on what to blog about the last two weeks. Plus things have been very hectic lately. As an RWA member of a local chapter, I do a lot of volunteering for them. But that's NOT what I'm blogging about.

No. I'm here to blog about...shoes. RIGHT. Shoes.

So.

Sunday afternoon, I was having a family dinner with my brother, his wife, their kids, my kid, and my mother. Somehow the subject of shoes and words came up. And I learned something about not only shoes, but words, as well. And since I make my part-time living on words, I thought it was very fitting that words and shoes should be tied together. (Did you catch that - it was a pun. HA)

Anyway.

Since daily life has been sabotaging my ability to blog here at ShoeIQ, I thought it only fitting to discuss the word itself - sabotage.

According to Wikepedia:

The name [sabotage] derives from early in the Industrial Revolution. It is often said that powered looms could be damaged by angry or disgruntled workers throwing their wooden shoes or clogs (known in French as sabots) into the machinery, effectively clogging the machinery.

This totally puts clogs in a new light for me. I mean, who knew! I have two pair, after all. Does this, then, prove there is another use for clogs other than wearing and strutting?

I wonder...do you think I'd get much result if I thew my three-inch heeled Guess clogs at anyone or anything at work?

Yeah. I didn't think so either.
