Once Upon A Shoe

I realized recently there are several stories involving women and shoes. Aside from the chic-lit boom where the women are mid-30s and have shoes from great designers like Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin. No, I'm not talking about the gals from Sex and the City, either.

I think I need to address the story that really started it all. Wizard of Oz. Okay, so you think I may be crazy and maybe I am. But if you really sit down and think about it, that movie was really just a story about two broads fighting over a pair of shoes. They both wanted the ruby red slippers. The poor Wicked Witch of the East had a house drop on her and lost them forever. I wonder if Dorothy really appreciated getting to wear such find footwear.

And I wonder if they were so powerful, how come we didn't see their power until the end when Dorothy clicks her heels together three times? If I rewrote that story today, I think I'd have to find a way to have the Wicked Witch of the West get them so I could wreak havoc with them until the heroes come in and save the day.

But that's just me.

And another shoe story - The Old Woman and the Shoe. Man, it must be stinky in there with all those kids in that shoe. You'd think she could get on welfare or something and skate like the rest of the planet does. I guess she's never heard of food stamps either.

I guess her husband is a cobbler, though, and she gets to live there for free.

Which brings me to Cinderella. I'm jealous she has dainty feet and she gets to wear glass slippers. You'd think this broad would be able to keep these shoes on her feet. Makes me wonder if they're a half size too big or something. Of course, the glass slipper being glass, she might have trouble with heel slippage. Maybe she needs some of those heel inserts. The clear ones seem to work best, and Cindy, they won't show through the slipper.

Hm. Do you think there was a little white and black label inside the shoe with the name of the designer? It would, of course, have to be Fairy Godmother. Ya think she has any other designs? haha
