LA Fashion Week - Part 1

Saturday

Noon-ish:
Went to Allure on Location event in Bel Air for Clothes Off Our Back. The place was packed, but amid the beauty, health, and clothing venues…was Charles David. They had set up a booth to show their new Fall/Winter 06 Collection. They had tones of heels in great rich colors, boots, and day shoes. Sadly, they had nothing for men. If you have a Charles David near by, I say go by and buy!

4ish:
Went to the Beverly Hills Hotel to meet a new friend by the pool for drinks; as I walked in I noticed that there was a wedding taking place. Sadly most, if not all, of the women where wearing full length dresses or gowns. So, sorry but I didn’t see a single heel…

9ish:
Went to a fashion show for White Boy/Girl clothing line at Day After club in Hollywood. I came with 4 people in tow. I know what you are thinking,“Entourage!” Yes, but my people are nice and know how to have fun. Anyways, the show was set to start at 11, but we got a call that the other show that we wanted to go was starting at the same time now, the show at Mood was for 12, but was pushed up. So After a few drinks we made the choice to go to Mood.

11ish:
We get to Mood and we see the line. I think, "great a long line." The door man was doing his job, so my girl did her job, and within 5 minutes we’re in! Thank God, I hate to wait too long to get into a venue in LA. As luck would have it, the show was running a little late. After a drink and a cig the show began. The collection I saw was filled with great basics, but I was unable to see the models shoes. The Runway they used was the Bar, which is great, but I was in the back by the DJ and could see nothing. Anyways, after the show I found out that the stylist had asked the models to bring their own shoes. I wouldn’t do that, but if that’s all they had to work with…

Sunday

8ish:
The 1st official day of LA Fashion week! I sat out the first few shows…I needed some sleep. As I pulled up to the valet I noticed that the entrance was packed! This is always a great sign. As I check into the Megan Fabulous show I realized that, as always, the show was running late. The line was long, too long for me, so I went outside to have a drink and a cig. After a few moments I went back in and saw the line moving. As I took my place in line I saw a not-so-fabulous pair of boots. I know different people have different tastes, but this was just bad. The boots where of a poor quality leather, “died” a dull black and with paint marks all over it. I’m sure they where made to look interesting, but to me it was just a bad mess.

So as the line moved along I noticed that we were headed outside. I thought, this is odd, but I went along. After we had passing the dumpster area and coming back up to the front entrance, someone informed used that we had gone the wrong way! As we walked back to the door we had just come out of, the usher stopped us, us being about 100 attendees, he had informed us that we had to go all the way around to get back inside. As we walked passed him, sorry but I was not about to walk passed the dumpster again, we got to the door for MF only to be stopped once more. This time the usher informed us that I show was starting and that the doors where closed. Once he said that, people got pissed! I just walked out and checked in for the next show. Louis Verdad!

Louis Verdad’s collections was a dream in white, but some of the shoes where a nightmare in red or black! As I saw the models come down the runway all I could see where the tacky red or black ankle boots they had on. The collection of clothing was so rich but the shoes where so cheap looking. Which brings me to what the rep for Charles David had told me the day before; in the past Charles David had partnered with Louis for the shows, but this season they where going to have to sit it out due to all the other events they where doing. Once more, all I could think of was bad styling on the part of the stylist. I will say that the heels they used midway where great, but the boots at the start where just so not in step with the look of the collection.

11ish:
I get to the Megan Fabulous/944 Magazine Party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. I have a few drinks and take off at around 1am. I just wanted to sleep after that day.

Monday

I was set to go to fashion week, but was too tired and had way too much paper work to finish.

Tuesday

Same as Moday. Only today, I had to prep for a shoot for Wednesday. I will finish off fashion week on Friday with a Fashion Walk Off I am participating in. I’ll let you know how it goes. Also, sorry for the lack of pictures, my digi cam broke at the 944 party.
