It's a Shoe Thing

"But...I needed those." Isn't that the excuse of just about every woman across the planet when her significant other sees she's bought yet ANOTHER pair of shoes?

What is it about shoes? I mean, there's just something magical about them when you bring home that new shiny box, open it up, carefully pull aside the tissue paper...and there lies your new pair. All shiny and pretty and perfect. Unmarred. Unscathed. Unworn.

I so love picking up the box and sniffing that New Shoe Smell. And trust me on this one, there is such a thing. Then the next order of business is to carefully pick up the shoe, examine it from front to back, top to bottom, try it on, and then examine your foot in the mirror. Of course, you did this at the store, but you must do this again once you reach the privacy of your boudoir.

Why, you may ask? It’s Shoe Rule #1 in my book. You must make sure that your purchase is exactly what you wanted by carefully trying them on once again at home.

Okay, this is probably just my sick sense of shoe-buying, but hey, what can I say? I love buying shoes and bringing them home and then trying them on again. I love finding outfits (that I already own) that go with them. And sometimes, I buy the outfit first and then the shoe (but that’s another blog entry for later…).

It all goes back to today’s quote of the day. Without the right shoe, nothing is possible. I think this is so true because when you put on a pair of shoes you love, it makes the spring in your step just that springier. Your confidence goes way up and you feel so…so…feminine and empowered.

Does any of this make sense? I have no idea. Maybe I need therapy. At DSW …yes... I need to go look at shoes…
