Hollywood Rescue

Dear Readers,

I will once more have to give you a short blog for this week. I have been slammed with so much. Fashion week starts on the 15th and it will go on until the 19th. Be forewarned, I am going to almost all the shows, but I’ll be missing a few due to a shoot. I have yet to go shopping, but I have Friday planned out: I have a facial, manicure, and 4 hours to hit my CC hard. I will be writing my blog as the days go by. I realized today that I can’t wait and do it all the day before like to have in the past. I know that my past blogs have been long, and after you see next week’s, you’ll be seeing the old me once more. But I do want to leave you with something.

I recently came upon a rare fine. I was in the hills of Hollywood, on my way to a shoot, when I ran into an estate sale. The seller was putting the sign up as I was looking for my shoot location. I had a few minutes to kill so I stopped in. The guy was so nice & super helpful. I had asked him if it was OK to park in the driveway, as I told him I only had a few moments to look in. We talked as he walked me in and I mentioned that I was a fashion stylist. He was quick to guild me into the room with tons of rolling racks. I quickly went to work. As most of the items I saw were somewhat old and not my style; I made quick work of the racks. I then moved on to the items on the bed and a folding table. As I looked over countless pieces of jewelry and hat boxes, I can across an old shoe box. Very worn and falling apart, I knew then that it was going to be something really great or just junk. And there they were; a pair of black satin heels with a Lucite cluster. The label read Saks 5th Ave! They were in need of much love and repair, but I knew that the Lucite cluster made them special. Realizing the time, I quickly asked the seller what he wanted for the pair. He said $10, I said SOLD, and I quickly went on my way. As I walked out, I realized that I was still no closer to finding & locating my shoot. I asked the seller if he knew where I could find this address. He mentioned that the street I was looking was Dr. and that this street ended in Rd. It was a common mistake most people made he added, but all I had to do was go back on Sunset heading West and make a left 3 streets over and I would find my street. I made it to my shoot on time-ish. During our lunch break I mentioned what had happened to me and I popped out the shoes I had rescued. I let the actress I was working with try them on. She loved them, and like a proud new father, I looked on as they were passed around the room. All I need to do now is find them a good repair shop! Much like a great prep school, I hope to find them the best in town!

I'll post pictures once they are ready. (Kind of like what they did with Tom Kitten.)
