Choo at Ten
It will come as no surprise that I too am a fan of Jimmy Choo - the ultimate in shoe lover cliche. And for other Choo fans out there, it will certainly not be news that this year, Jimmy Choo is celebrating its tenth year in the shoe biz. This brand, the brain child of Tamara Mellon, the company's founder, began life as the marriage between the savvy of a Vogue accessories editor and the design brilliance of a Chinese shoe maker. Mellon, who had commissioned shoes from Jimmy Choo throughout her editorial career, found backing for his eponymous collection and launched the phenomenon that is still on the tips of tongues and toes.

Though the designer and founder parted ways in 2001, those of us who crave the masterpiece that is a Choo shoe can now find "vintage" Choos - in celebration of year ten, Mellon is re-releasing some of the company's earliest creations. Not to be confused with the latest styles or with the originals from ten years past, the Jimmy Choo Vintage collection features a star at the heel of each shoe, announcing the shoe as "Vintage."
This is probably one of the most astute uses of the term vintage in reference to fashion - for, like a fine wine, these Choos have only gotten better with age.
